Learn essential techniques for personal protection, including situational awareness, boundary setting, effective physical self-defense
Canyon River Ranch Lodge is proud to host a Women’s Self-Defense Seminar on Monday, May 11th, offering participants an opportunity to build confidence, increase personal safety awareness, and learn practical self-defense techniques in a supportive and empowering environment.
Instructor Dave DeVore, former Defensive Tactics Instructor and Fifth Degree Black Belt in Filipino Martial Arts Hufana Traditional Arnis International, will teach hands-on instruction in situational awareness, boundary setting, and effective physical defense strategies that can be applied in everyday life scenarios. The program emphasizes prevention first, equipping participants with tools to recognize and avoid potential threats whenever possible.
“Our goal is to create a space where women feel empowered, prepared, and confident in their ability to protect themselves,” said Brenda DeVore, event organizer at Canyon River Ranch Lodge. “This seminar goes beyond physical techniques—it’s about mindset, awareness, and building strength from within.” Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing suitable for light physical activity.
